  1. The actual model of the universe still cannot be given with any certainty. The current view is that the universe began 
  2. from the big bang about 12 billion years ago, when it began expanding into the emptiness. (There are two alternatives 
  3. for the expansion: closed universe or open universe, the latter being more popular.)
  4. In both cases there are maybe more than a billion galaxies, and in galaxies there are billions of stars, some of them 
  5. more or less like our Sun. The more we know about our central star, the more we understand the structure of the 
  6. universe. In this study the SOHO spacecraft has been and still is one of the most valuable instruments.
  7.
